Team Naf's Noora von Bülow wins Children Grand Prix in The Netherlands

It was a GB victory today when 12 year-old Noora von Bülow from London won the Children’s Grand Prix at the FEI Jumping Nations Cup Youth Finals show in Kronenberg,The Netherlands.  Competng under the title sponsor banner of Team NAF, Great Britain have both a Children and Pony team competing at the event which runs between the 23 – 26 September.

Riding Lucky Lisa, an 11 year-old bay mare owned by Sharifa Al-Homaizi, Noora put in a tremendous performance to take pole position by posting a second round clear in an unbeatable time of 37.96 seconds.  Their closest rival came in the form of home rider Brit Schaper (NED) with In The Air having jumped clear and crossing the finish line in 38.17 seconds.

Less than a second separated the top three placings when Linn Arvidsson (SWE) took 3rd with Glenmorangie having also jumped clear but in a slightly slower of 38.91 seconds.   Twelve clears had been achieved in the first round and it was seven of those that managed to attain a second clear in the jump off.  With the pressure on, it was a highly competitive final round with some incredibly fast riding by those chasing the higher placings.

Fellow team rider Ruby Ward, aged 14 from Burton-on-Trent also made an appearance in the line up with Giddy Up Tango, a 10 year-old mare owned by  Michael Whitaker.  Having jumped clear in the first round to qualify for the jump-off it was an unfortunate 4 penalties in a time of 39.58 seconds that saw them finish in 9th place.

For Noora it was a very worthy win which Clare Whitaker, Chef d’Equipe and British Showjumping Youth Team Manager, applauded by saying “Noora was exceptional this evening to take the Children’s Grand Prix title in the way that she did across what proved to be a testing course and a strong field.  It was a hard fought for title and she thoroughly deserves credit for her outstanding performance. We are now focussing on Sunday’s Children and Pony Nations Cup finals where we are in a strong position for both.”

Prior to this the Pony Grand Prix had taken place in the Milestone Farm Arena which plays host to the major classes at the event.  Tabitha Kyle, aged 14 from Loughborough in Leicestershire, was the highest placed Brit when she finished 5th with the 11 year-old gelding Atomic du Bary owned by TJ Hall Limited.

Both squads of riders now have a day of rest before their respective Nations Cup finals on Sunday.  For full results of todays Children’s Grand Prix please click here and for further information on the show and results across all classes please visit www.peelbergen.eu
