Georgia Tame sweeps up in the Grandstand Welcome Stakes at Horse of the Year Show

Today saw the opening International Showjumping class on day three of Horse of the Year Show 2021. Rising to the challenge to scoop the top prize was West Sussex’s Georgia Tame on board Z 7 Caretina a 10 year-old bay mare owned by Team Z 7. Georgia rode a classy round to steal the win from fellow competitor Guy Williams to finish clear in a time of 27.60 seconds. With three riders left to jump the pressure was on but the tough two-phase course proved too much to knock Georgia off the top spot.

A delighted Georgia said after her win “I hope the week carries on as good as it started! When I walked the course, I made a plan and watched a few go at the beginning, I actually didn’t get to see Guy’s, but I saw his time was a lot quicker then the one’s I did see. I just stuck to the plan and she’s a fast horse anyway, so it all worked out.

It was a shame that last year with everything going on that it had to cancel. It is great to be back here and the atmosphere in there is great.”

Horse of the Year Show continues through until Sunday 10 October when it culminates with the Leading Showjumper of the Year being crowned.   For more information, full results and ticketing information visit www.hoys.co.uk
