Harry Charles flies to victory in St Gallen

Harry Charles got the show at St Gallen, Switzerland, off to a flying start with victory in the feature Prize Suttero 5* 1.50m on Ann Thompson's Aralyn Blue.

Twelve of the 58 starters jumped clear over Swiss course-designer Gerard Lachat’s 13-fence 5* 1.50m track but only 10 returned to contend the jump-off. Harry hit immediate form although it was no easy feat, the top five were all within three quarters of a second of each other. But Harry and Ann Thompson’s Chacco-Blue/Ludwig 12-year-old had the edge to ease ahead and take the win by only 0.10 seconds.

Switzerland’s Alain Jufer claimed second on Dante MM and Ireland’s Denis Lynch filled third spot aboard Vistogrand, the 10-year-old Fantaland x Mr Visto stallion bred and produced in Britain by Carron Nicol.
