Lily Attwood is in fine form on day one in glorious St Tropez

Lily Attwood had to settle for second place by a fraction in the Bentley 5* 1.45m with Karibou Horta at the Athina Onassis Horse Show/Longines Global Champions Tour, St Tropez in France.

Forty-seven riders contended this class with Lily taking out strides at the gallop on the Landor S x For Pleasure 13-year-old in a speedy round that looked unbeatable.  The pair used their early draw to set a super-quick target, impressively relegating home hero Kevin Staut on Cornet’s Velvet RS by more than two seconds.

But Lily’s lead didn’t last long as Germany’s Philipp Schulz Topphoff and Carla clipped just 0.36 seconds off her time to take the win. Ben Maher was also penalty-free with Enjeu De Grisien for sixth place.

“Of course, I would have liked to have won but I'm super-pleased with how Horton's feeling. This is a spectacular show and to be places on the first day sets me up perfectly for the big classes to come," said Lily.
