Katie Otter cruises to victory in the NAF Five Star Summer Bronze League Qualifier at Codham Park

Katie Otter claimed a convincing victory in the NAF Five Star Summer Bronze League Qualifier at Codham Park Equestrian Centre in her home county of Essex with Alex Bishop’s Thomascourt Darco Q.

Katie, 14, only acquired the Amaretto Darco x Obos Quality 9-year-old a month ago from trainer Ronnie Jones of Rolex Sport Horses.  This marked their first win.

“To win at only our second show together is amazing, I really didn’t have any expectations of winning, but we clicked straight away and totally got each other,” said Katie.  “It helped to have Ronnie and Alex at the show today.”

Thirty-five competitors tackled the 1.05m track with 25 producing initial clear rounds, but these were further reduced to eight for the final round against the clock, Madeleine claiming a 3.64 second win from her midway draw.

“I didn’t know how it would go in the jump-off as we are so new to each other so I just kept steady as he can really light up in the ring.  I’d got the turns planned in my head but missed the first turn and thought I was way off target, I was so shocked to hear we’d gone into the lead,” said Katie.

NB: Qualifications will be updated pending official grading of results.
