Nicole Lockhead Anderson and Lorenzo VII win the National 5-year-old Championship Final

A field of just over forty came forward to contest the National 5-Year-Old Championship. It was an exciting display of talent from the young horses which were all born in 2016 and the height of the fences start at 1.20m.

Nicole Lockhead Anderson, riding Lorenzo VII, were awarded first place after taking on the technical course. 16 combinations made it through to the jump off, and 9 went home with double clears. An ecstatic Nicole said “he [Lorenzo VII] is unbelievable, it feels so easy, I never feel like I’m going fast in a jump off as he’s so rideable! He really deserves his name on the trophy.

Nicole has plans to take on a couple more 5-year-old classes after her successful win, as he finds competing so easy.

The winning combination finished the jump off in just 44.26 seconds, with Angela Thompson and Sanavisto in second place in a time of 47.90 seconds. Jeanette Powell and ODI finished in 50.08 seconds for third place.
