The Oxon Team takes the title in the National Team Jumping Championship

The National Team Jumping Championship took place in Arena 3 at the British Showjumping National & Academy Championships 2021 at the NAEC, Warwickshire this afternoon, Sunday 8 August. Horses and riders travelled from all around the UK to contest the final. The excited winners of the Oxon Team include Charlotte Whittall riding Johnny Splash, George Lisi riding Acapella, Erin Angel riding Fleeting Meeting, and Agata Smolen riding Mephisto Van Hallen, known as Messi at home. This is the first year all four rides have competed in the National teams.

Following an outstanding performance, Erin commented on Fleeting Meeting, known at home as Dillon saying, “Usually we are eventers but in the last year we have been focused on Showjumping, he [Dillon] is a dream horse!” Team member, George, describes her as a “pocket rocket that loves to jump!”

When asked about 9-year-old Messi, Agata said “she is a lovely horse, she has been jumping 1.30 courses!” Charlotte described Johnny Splash saying “he is a tank who loves to jump” with Charlotte also competing in other classes across the week.

After a successful win from the Oxon Team, the RB Elites from Central Scotland finished in second, and Nottinghamshire Team: Ride for Latina finish in third.

The National Teams consist of four competitors with each combination jumping at different heights, 90cm, 1.00m, 1.10m and 1.15m. The horses jumping at 90cm and a 1.00m must at the start of qualifying be registered at Grade C and those jumping 1.10m and 1.15m can be registered at any grade.
