Rachel Vicary reigns in the NAF Five Star Summer Silver League qualifier at Dorset Showground

Rachel Vicary, of Crediton, Devon, dominated the NAF Five Star Summer Silver League Qualifier at Dorset Showground, claiming the top two places.

A total of 44 competitors came forward in the three-round, 1.15m competition with 28 finding the key to access round two, these further reduced to 19 for a promised, hot jump-off.  Rachel was on top form, outpacing all challenges to take the win on Amanda Vicary’s super-speedy 17-year-old Sparkling Indulgence by 0.49 seconds. She underscored the win with second place on the Dutch-bred 10-year-old Isabeau III.

The prolific winner Indulgence joined Rachel eight years ago.

“I was 15 and he was my first horse. He’s an out-and-out winner, he knows his job and he’s Mr Reliable. He’s shown me the ropes and taught me how to win,” said Rachel, who executed tight inside turns to take the win.

“I was first to go and had to do something special. I was only one stride off the oxer at two and got in a very tight inside turn after the double, it was tricky and not everyone could do it, but I still didn’t expect to win from the front.”

Rachel has ridden Francesca Stubbington’s Dutch-bred 10-year-old Isabeau for four months, sharing the ride.

“She’s been eventing and is has just stepped up to 1.30m and learning to go quick.  She’s super-careful, super-genuine with a good brain and attitude,” added Rachel.
