Rebecca Marsh and Stevie G Step to Success in the International Stairway at the Great Yorkshire Show
Thursday 23 July 2026

Rebecca Marsh and her experienced partner Stevie G claimed victory in the International Stairway at the Great Yorkshire Show last Wednesday, producing the only faultless jump-off round to take the top honours.
A total of 28 rider combinations came forward to tackle Jason Abbs' challenging course, with eight combinations jumping clear in the opening round to secure their place in the jump-off.
Last to return against the clock, Rebecca and the ever-reliable Stevie G showcased their experience in the unique class. The pair, who became back-to-back National Champions in the International Stairway last year, once again demonstrated why they are specialists in the discipline. Delivering the only clear round of the jump-off, they stopped the clock in 53.52 seconds to secure another impressive victory.
Finishing in second place was Hayley Webster aboard Cachento. The combination produced an excellent performance, crossing the finish in 60.30 seconds, but picked up a single time penalty to add one fault to their score, securing the runner-up position.
“It was a fantastic day, it’s such a great arena, it’s unbelievable, and one that I have always wanted to win the Stairway in but have never done so before. It’s another one ticked off the bucket list!
Stevie absolutely loves it at the Great Yorkshire and thrives off the crowd, he just loves the buzz. What else can I say… he was fantastic and really lights up in the atmosphere. He thinks everyone buys a ticket to see him! That show and Royal Highland just have the best atmosphere.” said Rebecca on her win.
Next, we head to the Royal International to jump the Queens Cup and then to London for the Global Champions Tour before we head to the National Championships at Stoneleigh to defend out title as National Champions for the third year.
The International Stairway takes place across a number of county shows throughout the season, with winning combinations accruing league points that count towards the Final at the British Showjumping National Championships in August at Stoneleigh Park.
The series culminates in a high-profile championship where not only is the National Champion crowned, but three coveted Horse of the Year Show International Wild Cards are also up for grabs, adding even more excitement and prestige to the competition.
The International Stairway Series is supported by the British Showjumping Business Partnership, which includes ClipMyHorse.TV, Charles Owen, HorseQuest, Equine Bio Genie and Zebra Products, to whom everyone at British Showjumping is extremely grateful.
