Red Morgan secures Team NAF another Grand Prix win in Weirden

16 year-old Red Morgan from Malpas in Cheshire put Great Britain at the top of the line-up again today when claimed the victory in the Junior Grand Prix at the Dutch Youngster Festival in Wierden, The Netherlands this afternoon

Riding True Blue, a 12 year-old British Bred bay gelding owned by Didy Morgan, he took the jump off field by storm when he finished clear in an untouchable time of 39.68 seconds to claim the lead.  From the initial field of thirty, it was only thirteen that made it through to the second round as a result of their first round clears.   With all vying to finish at the top of the line-up it certainly piled the pressure on for the riders to keep moving forward in as fast a pace as possible whilst also ensuring they kept turns as tight as they could.  With this forcing many into making mistakes it was only six that managed to post another penalty free round.

For Red, it was a clear victory, when he crossed the finish line with almost three seconds in hand. The combination that came closes to him was fellow squad rider Ben Clark, aged 18 Romsey in Hampshire, riding the 8 year-old grey gelding Sam van de Helle owned by Robert Lemieux with his clear in 42.04 seconds.  This saw the Brits take the top two positions ahead of 3rd placed rider Ella Quigley (IRE) with Off-White and Daria Samokhina (RUS) and Aaron Tiskens (BEL) who took 4th and 5th place respectively whilst Johanna Beckmann (GER) took 6th.

Great Britain has four squads currently competing at the Dutch Youngster Festival spanning Pony, Children, Junior and Young Riders under the title sponsor banner of Team NAF.  Yesterday saw two British Grand Prix wins when Tatiane Mauree win the Pony Grand Prix and Allana Clutterbuck the Young Rider one.  The show now moves on to the Nations Cup competitions for all four categories before culminating tomorrow evening, Sunday 16th August.
