Equiyd National Amateur Championship Second Rounds head to Newbold Verdon

Newbold Verdon hosted an exciting weekend of competition as riders from around the country came forward to try and secure their place at the Championship Final at Aintree in November.
Course designer Kevin Bull set out a challenging course across each of the four qualifiers.
Equiyd 85cm National Amateur Championship Qualifier - Second Round
20 rider combinations came forward in the 85cm qualifier, with twelve producing clear rounds in the first round to make their way through to the jump-off.
It was Keira Mcallister riding Alice Mcallister’s Lilys Valentino who produced two clear round in the fastest time of 40.76 seconds to win the class. Second place went to Emily Starbrook riding Azure Welkin Nial, who also jumped clear in a time of 46.04 seconds, while Victoria Douglas Jones riding Nemesis completed the top three in a time of 47.12.
Equiyd 95cm National Amateur Championship Qualifier - Second Round
Seventeen rider combinations contested the 95cm qualifier, with eight jumping clear in the first round to progress through to the jump-off.
Ruby Mcallister and Alice Mcallister’s Nora II were the successful combination to take the top spot, clear in both rounds in a time of 28.31. Elizabeth Sargeant riding All About Alfie secured second place in a time of 30.80, while Meredith Ng riding Jysca Loma N rounded up the top three with another clear in a time of 31.57.
Equiyd 1.05m National Amateur Championship Qualifier - Second Round
Sixteen combinations lined up for the 1.05m qualifier, with eight of those combinations jumping clear in the first round.
Alison Glover riding her own Dancing Ranger took the top spot, jumping clear in a time of 44.16. Meredith Ng riding Jysca Loma N once again joined the top three in a time of 44.71, Nigel Thorpe riding Obey D was also clear in a time of 46.90.
Equiyd 1.10m National Amateur Championship Qualifier - Second Round
Six combinations came forward to contest the 1.10m qualifier, with only two of the combinations jumping clear to take on the jump-off.
Jane Greenham riding her own Levis K took the top spot in a time of 37.61, second place went to Samantha Scott riding Zingaro II who had an unfortunate 4 faults at the last fence, which also incurred some time penalties which left her with a total of 11 faults.
With the Newbold Verdon qualifiers now complete, attention will turn to Aintree in November, where those who have secured their qualification will battle it out for the coveted Equiyd National Amateur Championship titles.
