Emma-Jo Slater celebrated winning her third NAF Five Star Winter Silver League Championship at the British Showjumping Winter Championships riding Kim Barzilay’s Freule TN.
“I’m so glad she’s win this at last, she’s my favourite,” said Emma-Jo, previous winner in 2024 on Kim’s home-bred Kimba Showtime and 2023 aboard Kimba Flamenco.
Thirteen of the 35 starters gained access to the jump-off, an on-form Emma-Jo claiming three chances. It was the first of her rides and known for her speedy prowess, the 16-year-old mare Freule TN, that came up dividends, securing the win with every tight turn at optimum pace by more than two seconds.
Owner Kim has run a small – and successful – breeding programme of sporthorses for many years, and although Freule TN will eventually become a broodmare when she retires, she has already produced two offspring.
“We’ve taken embroyos from her and I already have a two-year-old and a three-year-old – I’m looking forward to seeing them in the ring,” said Kim, who also bred Kimba Flamenco, a five-star Grand Prix winner for Billy Twomey.
“However, while she is still enjoying it and winning, we’ll keep competing her. She only goes out once a fortnight but is consistently winning at 1.20/1.30m and is currently second on the Silver League list.”
Amelia Keen finished second on Forked Lightening ahead of Jo Carlin in third on Mighty Mouse D’Ilena.
