Riders Take to the Stage at the Scottish Regional Academy Championship Show

Scotland Academy were hosts of the next Regional Academy Championship Show, which took place at Morris Equestrian Centre from 28th February to 1st March
The Regional Academy Championships offer Academy riders an exciting opportunity to continue to showcase their skills in a competitive yet supportive championship environment.

Mini Individual
Twenty-four combinations came forward for the first Championship class of the weekend, the Mini Individual class, with seven jumping clear to contend for top spot. Caitlin Hay, who was representing Scotland’s Central Belters Team, piloted Hillgarth Fifi Trixibelle clear around the course in an uncatchable time of 29.07 seconds.
Sienna Martin, also representing Scotland’s Central Belters Team, jumped Orfelia VD Bisschop into second place, just 0.65 seconds off the winning pair in 29.72 seconds. Kiara Hanlon and Buzz Lightyear VII, who are part of the Scotland Tiny Titans Team, took home third place in a time of 30.14 seconds, finishing just less than half a seconds in arrears.
Mini Team
The Scotland Central Belters team took home top honours in the Mini team competition. Caitlin Hay (Hillgarth Fifi Trixibelle), Sienna Martin (Orfelia VD Bisschop), Emily Osborne (Bobby’s Return) and Jessica Hennessy (Balhagarty Queen of the Night) lifted the title with a completely clean score sheet in a time of 90.82 seconds.
The Pocket Rocket team of Isla Leitch (Tatty Desire), Owen Leitch (Barracurra Jellybaby), Finn Craig (Hampton Lady Louise) and Emmy-Louise Benham (Leo’s Legacy) slotted into second place with eights faults in a time of 99.82 seconds.
Riding for the Tiny Titans team, Kiara Hanlon (Buzz Lightyear VII), Lily Grant (Marcosie Marceline), Amy MacRobert (SBS Scribbler) and Guy Hamilton (Popsters Deronda) picked up third place also on eight faults, in a time of 10.85 seconds.
Midi Individual
In the Midi Individual Championship class, it was Sophie Greenway was led the way ahead of her 32 competitors. Sophie, representing the Southwest Scotland Indigo team, convincingly claimed the win with a clear round in a time of 28.50 seconds aboard Gentle Jack I.
Caitlyn McConnell, riding for the Southwest Scotland Red team, steered Bochym Magic Alhena into second place in a time of 29.03 seconds. Scotland X-Men team member Archie Nicoll took home third place with Woodlander Wagalina, finishing just 0.18 seconds in arrears.
Midi Team
In the Midi Team competition, it was the Dazzling Divas of Holly Milne (Brynmeillion Mr Fantastic), Emmy-Louise Benham (Leo’s Legacy), Millie Baird (Slieve Aughty Boy), Emma Loe (Fanad Wave) who stormed home to take first place, returning a team clear in an uncatchable time of 101.94 seconds.
The Southwest Scotland team of Caitlyn McConnell (Bochym Magic Alhena), Amber Kerr (The Snow Queen), Sophie McAleney (Baby Eccleston) and Robbie Gordon (Mentos-Lara) also jumped a team clear in a time of 104.62 seconds to pick up second place.
Daisy Jackson (Cruella De Vil), Sienna Martin (Pasaka Lily), Isla Leitch (Rivervalley Romance) and Emily Osborne (Bobby’s Return) secured third place for Perfectly Central, accruing just four faults in a time of 104.29 seconds.
Maxi Individual
It was Amaya Cairns who led the way to victory in the Maxi Individual Competition, riding Llanidan Sea Biscuit and representing the Southwest Scotland Cyan Team. The speedy pair crossed the finish clear in a time of 29.58 seconds which could not be beaten.
Lily Dow, representing the Equine Avengers team, steered Red Flamenco clear around the course and into second place in a time of 32.48 seconds whilst her teammate, Emma Loe picked up third, also jumping clear, in a time of 36.62 seconds aboard Fanad Wave.
Maxi Team
Victory went to the Southwest Scotland Cyan team of Amaya Cairns (Llanidan Sea Biscuit), Sophia Cairns (Wee Vintage), Owen Leitch (Coolys Showtime) and Madison Mclachlan (Who’s Woodside Stunner) who finished with a team total of 12 faults in a time of 105.90 seconds.
The Equine Avengers took home second place, with team members Lily Dow (Red Flamenco), Emma Loe (Fanad Wave), Holly Milne (Brynmeillion Mr Fantastic) and Millie Baird & Slieve Aughty Boy
Intermediate Individual
It was a clean sweep of placings for riders representing the Lanarkshire Dream Team in the Intermediate Individual Championship class.
Standing on the top step of the podium was Suzi Bowe and Evie VII, who crossed the finish with a clear round in a time of 40.30 seconds, finishing just 0.23 seconds ahead of her teammate, Lesley McCulloch & Pretty Little Thing II who also jumped clear in 40.53 seconds. Jamie Nisbet & Calcourt Dalux slotted into third place with just four faults and the quickest time of the class, crossing the finish in 39.04 seconds.
Intermediate Team
The Lanarkshire Dream Team were triumphant in the Intermediate Team competition. Sienna Nisbet (Follow Me Junior), Lesley McCulloch (Pretty Little Thing II), Jamie Nisbet (Calcourt Dalux) and Suzi Bowe (Evie VII) finished on a team total of four faults in time of 119.87 seconds.
The Southwest Emerald team of Chloe Hanlon (The Blonde Prince), Leeann O’Regan (Ginger Warrior), Lara Barnes (Goulton First Edition) and Zurie Dempster (Spring Grove Satisfaction) picked up second place, with a team total of 44 faults in 143.43 seconds.
Advanced Individual
In the Advanced individual class, it was also a clean sweep for the riders representing the Flying Fetlocks team. Zurie Dempster took home top spot aboard Carraiganard Obie with 8 faults in the fastest time of 52.13 seconds.
Securing second place was Leeann O’Regan, riding Ginger Warrior, finishing with 18 faults in a time of 86.37 seconds whilst Marky Ritchie took home third place aboard LK Makari, with 20 faults in a time of 87.98 seconds.
Advanced Team
In the final class of the show, the Flying Fetlocks team of Zurie Dempster (Carraiganard Obie), Leeann O’Regan (Ginger Warrior), Marky George Ritchie (LK Makari) and Emma Burns (Lupin) were victorious in the Advanced Team competition in a time of 169.21 seconds.
