Joe Trunkfield Seizes Victory in the Winter Five-year-old Championship

Joe Trunkfield landed the Winter Five-year-old Championship at the British Showjumping Winter Championships, Arena UK with Replay EB at the only the mare's second show.
Hungry after taking second in the preceding Winter Seven-year-old Final, Joe left nothing to chance with the five-year-old Replay B and impressively lifted the trophy by almost three seconds.
“It was a little bit tense as last to go because Millie Singer was in the lead on Uptons Ronaldo – a horse I own jointly with Mark and Gail Chapman,” said Joe. “And he jumped so well I might just pinch her back!”
Six came through to the jump-off with Thomas Pritchard taking two, but only three posted double clears, Joe winning with Millie on Uptons Ronaldo second and Caroline Barnes riding Grantstown Lucky Luck into third.
“It was a fantastic jump-off course; our two horses are not very experienced, but it wasn’t a galloping track and there was good jumping,” said Joe, who purchased Replay B from Mark Bosanko 18 months ago and owns the Calvaro x Action-Breaker mare with Vanessa Alford.
“She was a feral four-year-old, very blood, very hot and sensitive but super-blood and very intelligent. She’s taken to work and doing her job very well – she loves it and thrives on it, although she’s sharp-minded she’s super-intelligent.”
