Tim Craggs set an early target that could not be beaten to take the NAF Five Star Winter Bronze League Championship at the British Showjumping Winter Championships at Arena UK with Carrickadawson Candy.
“I’ve tried to win this class for the past two years and was in the line-up both times, it feels good to finally win it,” said Tim.
It was no fluke as 18 of the 41 starters came back to battle it out against the clock – and they gave it their best shot, but Tim executed the tightest of turns at optimum pace for victory by 1.34 seconds.
Tim purchased the Sligo Candy Boy HHS BR Charlton 10-year-old mare Carrickadawson Candy from eventer James Adams three years ago.
“James had bought her for eventing but didn’t get on with her as she’s quite spicy and sent her to me to sell. She’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I like spicy with attitude, and it drew her to me. We had success in the early days, so I decided to buy her for myself,” said Tim, who qualified for this final this week.
“It was nice to qualify but I didn’t know what she would do in the Final as it was a good atmosphere in the arena. There are always good courses here and she stepped up today.”
Jodi Randall jumped Heralda into second with Ann-Marie Vizard taking third on Horatio II.
