Second time lucky for Cate Kerr in the 128cm Championship

It was a winning return for 12 year-old Cate Kerr at Horse of the Year Show this morning in the Andrews Bowen International Arena to retain the title in the 128cm Championship. The schoolgirl from Newmarket showed experience and style as she navigated her way around the jump off in lightning speed aboard the dun gelding Dunbarover IV. Third to go, the time she had to beat was 35.18 seconds set by Hollie Gerken and Black Jack II. Riding tight lines and her foot firmly on the gas Cate crossed the finish line in 34.47 seconds.

About her win a delighted Cat said “I had in my mind to just keep going and that was it. It felt easy, sometimes he can be strong but he felt quite relaxed today so it was good.  I was quite nervous but I just put it behind me and got on with it.  His stable name is Yogi and he has two favourite places in the stable, one is the feed bowl and the other is right up against the side of the stable and he’s always got a floppy lip!”
