Anya Dewey-Clarke Enjoys More Success With a Win in the Winter Children-on-Horses Championship
Sunday 22 March 2026
Anya Dewey Clarke has enjoyed phenomenal success with her 128cm ponies at HOYS, Royal International and London International and is now set for success on horses after convincingly winning the Winter Children-on-Horses Championship on Jewelino.
“This is the biggest I’ve jumped and I absolutely love him,” said Anya, 11, who celebrates her 12th birthday in December and still has a full year ahead on her 128 ponies.
Three riders produced initial clear rounds over course-designer Shaun Sands’ 11-fence, 14-effort 1.25m track, and it was all about the clock as all three again provided flawless rounds.
Drawn second, Anya was smooth and confident to take the win on Jewelino by 0.65 seconds. Last-to-go Cheska Kirby slipped Magic Chanti into second with pathfinder Charlie Barker – last year’s winner with Green Grass – in third on Acarno B.
Anya got the ride on the 12-year-old Jewelino Ustinov x Ircolando) from Michaela Whitaker in the New Year.
The family planned a two-week trip to Gassin - St Tropez in February on a ‘Get to know you’ mission and it paid handsomely with a hat-trick of wins at 1* 1.10/1.15m level. The class here was a big step up.
“It’s quite a big difference going from 128cm ponies to a horse but I’m getting better with practise, but he’s got a lovely personality. The course was quite technical, and I knew I had to get a good canter,” said Anya, who has now set her sights on winning at Pony of the Year Show.
Anya’s Mum Anna had made a rash promise the week before: “I said we’d see how it went this week – now I’ll have to let her jump at POYS!”
