Thomas Pritchard captured the Winter Grade C title with Roland Wallace and family’s consistent Princess SW at the British Showjumping Spring Championships at Arena UK.
“It was definitely worth the trip up [from London], this win feels amazing,” said Thomas.
Seven jumped initial clears over course-designer Shaun Sands’ 12-fence, 15-effort 1.30m track to fight it out in the jump-off, but fifth in Thomas showed them how it was done to take the win with more than three seconds to spare.
“She’s such a winner; sassy, very full of herself and she is her biggest fan – she knows how good she is. The course was well built, enough to make some have poles but no major issues,” said Thomas, who is hoping to make a return to HOYS with the Eldorado Van De Zeshoek x Caretino seven-year-old after finishing eighth in the Newcomers Final last year.
The pair will also make a trip to the Royal International Horse Show after winning the Unibed Winter B&C qualifier at Arena UK back in November while the more imminent Blue Chip Championships is another target in two weeks time.
Early leader Douglas Edward finished second on Goldenboy De Jarsay and Sophie Fawcett guided Exel DK Z into third.
