Emma-Jo Slater Dominates Summer NAF Silver League Qualifier at Codham Park

The NAF Five Star Summer Silver League Qualifier at Codham Park Equestrian Centre saw 38 rider combinations step forward at the weekend to tackle Lisa Kelly’s testing course, all hoping to secure qualification success on the road to this year’s championship final. 

The technical nature of the track proved influential throughout the competition, with only 10 riders managing to produce the required double clears to book their place in the jump-off. 

It was Emma-Jo Slater who proved unbeatable against the clock, taking top honours aboard Kim Barzilay’s Freule TN with a superb clear round in 44.14 seconds. Slater also secured second place, this time riding Kimba Time, after another polished clear in a time of 45.81 seconds to complete a remarkable one-two finish. 

Third place went to Tamsin Conyers riding Westlife, with the pair producing the final clear round of the day in a time of 55.00 seconds. 

Attention now turns towards the Summer Silver League semi-finals later this summer, as riders continue their quest to secure a coveted place at the prestigious Horse of the Year Show final in October. 

“We have had Freule TN for eight years now, and she’s a prolific winner for us. She recently won the NAF Winter Silver League Final at the Winter Championships at Arena UK, she’s just a great mare and wins so much. She has done the NAF Silver League final at HOYS before, where she had the fastest time, but just rolled a pole. We haven’t been to Codham for a few years now. The courses were good, and the show is really smart, neat and tidy. We had a good day as one of my homebreds was also second with Emma in that class. All in all, we had a very good weekend. 

“We did the qualifier rather than getting the points and qualifying through the league, as the mare is actually heading off to stud to get an embryo off her next weekend, so she will be away from competing for five weeks or so. We are pretty pleased that we were able to qualify her before she goes off to stud.” Said Kim Barzilay, owner of Freule TN.
